Sustainability

Our Philosophy

Sustainable Development means "meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs".

If we are to make a positive difference to the future of this planet then we have to act now.
Wealden Services believes that we can make a difference and we will do our utmost to ensure that all of our operations and duties are carried out in an environmentally
friendly way.

Machinery

Our grounds machinery is selected not only on price but on how clean the exhaust emissions are. Two-stroke strimmers, hedge cutters and blowers can now be sourced with cleaner burning, four stroke engines.

Using grass cutting machinery that mulches the cuttings instead of collecting them is a way of avoiding the transportation of green waste. A higher frequency of cut can be necessary to maintain standards, but overall this procedure will save time and money. An alternative is to compost the cuttings on site.

Green Waste Recycling

We have our own waste transfer station in our Lingfield depot. All waste is sorted and recycled. Our green waste comprises of grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, leaves and plant matter. We remove any items of litter then we place the waste in one of our green waste shredders that chop and cut everything into small pieces that we can turn in to mulch and compost. We the reuse these products back out on site.

Bulk Rubbish Recycling

It's a fact of life that some people think it's OK to leave their rubbish for someone else to clear up. We can clear all of your bulk rubbish with our specialist waste teams and vehicles but that's not where our service ends. Prevention is far better than cure and we will take the initiative and manage a waste reduction program on the schemes where you have problems. We will  lead and work with your local council, your domestic waste collectors, the Environment Agency and the local Police force to develop local wast strategy's with the aim to reduce waste, encourage recycling and make it difficult for people to flout the law. See our news page for an example of what we have achieved for one RSL.
