Grounds Maintenance, Moat Homes, South East England

When Moat Homes awarded us their grounds maintenance for every scheme in the South East of England we said "we want to be in your office with you, working alongside you". Our Moat Contract Liaison Manager is based in Moat's Dartford HQ, working alongside housing officers, team leaders and contract managers.

We share problems, opportunities, solutions and experience. We work together providing a joined up service to residents.

Grounds Maintenance, Roundshaw Estate, Wallington

Wealdens maintained the grounds at Roundshaw for five years. Initially we tendered to attend once a fortnight as per the specification, but, when we sat down and listened to the residents, they wanted something quite different. A permanent presence on site was the preferred option. This would encourage ownership by our team on the ground and encourage better knowledge of the estate and most importantly, far better resident interaction. The added flexibility of being on site to respond at a moment’s notice to urgent requests from residents is also of great benefit to the Roundshaw Estate Managers.

Please read about the Roundshaw Redevelopment in the article below;

In the past the Roundshaw Estate sadly had a reputation for being a place that would not be at the top of your list as a place to live. The good news is that the area has undergone a complete transformation over a decade with 1960s blocks of flats demolished and replaced with hundreds of new homes. Sutton Council worked with residents, Roundshaw Homes and others to secure funding and drive the regeneration forward. It has seen Roundshaw change from an area with high unemployment, anti-social behaviour and crime, to a popular area for affordable homes in Sutton. The community centre opened in 2005 and features a leisure centre, a library, a doctor’s surgery, a church, shops and other facilities.

Leader of Sutton Council Councillor Sean Brennan said: "Roundshaw is without doubt one of the best examples we have of residents, the council, our housing association partners and contractors working together to change and improve lives.

"It has changed from an area where tenants were desperate to move off to a place where people want to live."

The estate, now managed by Metropolitan HA comprises of 1,700 homes, including 1,400 properties for rent, 120 shared ownership homes of which 50 are for keyworkers"
